Powdery mildew and its treament

Powdery mildew is a common plant fungal disease which can infect both plants and lawns alike. However, if left uncontrolled this lawn disease will very rapidly take over the entire lawn, causing an enormous amount of damage in its wake. While powdery mildew can take over many different plant types, it will be instantly recognizable in home lawns when it starts off as what appears to be small white spots of dust across the surface of the sod. Eventually and very quickly, this white dust will spread over the entire lawns surface, joining all the previous white spots together into a mass of white powder which covers the entire lawn. As a fungal disease, these white spots, and the white powder which the disease produces are the Mycelium threads which the fungus produces. And once again, as with all lawn diseases, the very best time to spot the problem is very early in the morning when there is still dew present on the sod. At this time of day the Mycelium white threads should be very clearly visible to the naked eye, but will eventually dissipate once the weather begins to warm up during the daylight hours.
